Dr. Eric Lorens has owned the Pet Clinic of Rocky Mount since 2003. He graduated from The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 1992 moved back to his childhood home in Reston, VA. He worked for 11 years in small animal veterinary hospitals and emergency clinics in northern Virginia. He and his wife Kathy missed Southwest Virginia from their time in Blacksburg and were excited when an opportunity became available to become the new practice owners of the Pet Clinic in Rocky Mount.
Dr. Lorens enjoys developing a personal relationship with his clients and patients. He has a particularly strong interest in surgery, and has helped many patients over the years with the wide range of surgical services that he is able to offer. He also works closely with local animal rescue groups and enjoys being able to see what a difference good care makes for these neediest patients. Dr. Lorens sees primarily dogs and cats, but has seen quite a variety of patients over his career including ferrets, birds, rabbits, rats, snakes, sugar gliders, lizards, goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, and many types of wildlife.
Dr. Lorens has four children, who are all year round swimmers. He spends much of his spare time driving them to practice and cheering them on at meets. He also enjoys reading, hiking, biking, wood working, and various construction projects such as a new deck he built on his home. He lives near Rocky Mount with his family and 4 dogs, Cleo, Brianna, Rupert, and Jack Jack (no, that is not a typo!), and 6 cats, Floyd, Franklin, Ginger, Sandy, Messy Marvin, and Boone.
